How We Make Money
Last updated January 2026
We think you deserve to know exactly how a free service pays its bills. Here it is, plainly.
Free to homeowners, always
Home Repair One is free for homeowners. You can run the estimator, see your price range, and read every cost guide without paying anything and without creating an account. Seeing your number never costs you money and never requires your contact information.
Pros pay us for qualified matches
We earn revenue when you choose to be matched and we connect you with a pro. The independent pro pays us a referral fee for that qualified, consented introduction. That is the entire business model — a fee from the pro, not from you.
Why this keeps you protected
Because we are paid per qualified match and match you with one pro, we have no incentive to sell your information to as many buyers as possible — which is exactly what turns one form on a typical lead site into a week of spam calls. Our model only works if the match is good, so we vet the pros and honor one-to-one consent. Read more about how we vet pros.
Our estimates are independent
The price ranges we show are computed by our own cost model from published 2026 data. They are not influenced by which pro you might be matched with, and no pro pays to change the number you see. Estimates are informational, not quotes — your final price is set by the pro you hire after an on-site assessment.
Advertising
We may run advertising to reach homeowners, and we measure it with standard analytics and attribution tools described in our Privacy Policy. Advertising does not change the estimates you see or the one-pro promise.
