How we vet the pros we refer

Most home-services lead sites make money by selling your phone number to whoever bids highest — which is why one form turns into a week of calls. Home Repair One is built the opposite way. Here is exactly what we check, and exactly what happens with your information.

Our referral standard

01

Applicable state licensing

We refer independent pros who carry the license their trade and state require — a licensed electrician for panel work, a licensed plumber for repipes, a licensed contractor for a remodel. We tell you the trade so you can confirm the license yourself with your state or local licensing board before you hire.

02

Verified insurance

Referred pros carry the general-liability insurance appropriate to their trade, and workers' compensation where required. A pro in your home should be covered if something goes wrong — you can ask any pro for a current certificate of insurance before work begins.

03

Background check

Because these pros come into your home, they pass a background check as part of our referral standard. It is one of the reasons we match you with a vetted pro rather than an anonymous marketplace bidder.

04

One pro, named for your job

We match you with a single qualified pro for your trade — not four to six who all call at once. You are never dropped into a bidding-war phone storm, and you are never obligated to move forward.

05

Consent you control

Contact happens only if you submit the match request and check the one-to-one consent box, agreeing to hear from that specific pro — not a network. Reply STOP to any text and contact ends. We do not resell your information.

Trust & safety FAQ

Do you actually verify each pro's license?

We refer pros who carry the licensing their trade and state require, and we tell you the trade so you can independently confirm the license with your state or local licensing board before you hire. Licensing rules vary by state and trade, so that final check is always yours to make — and we make it easy by naming the pro up front.

Will my information be sold to lots of companies?

No. We match you with one pro per request and use one-to-one consent, meaning you agree to hear from that specific pro, not a broad network. We do not resell your information to unlimited buyers, which is why one request doesn't become a week of spam calls.

Do you use certification seals or badges?

No fake ones. We don't display invented 'certified' or 'trusted' seals. Our promise is concrete and verifiable instead: applicable licensing, insurance, a background check, one pro, and consent you control — all things you can confirm yourself.

Is there any cost or obligation to me?

None. Seeing your estimate is free and ungated, and requesting a match is free. You're never obligated to hire anyone, and you pay the pro directly only if you choose to move forward.
